Cleaning GP (Oxygen Permeable) Lenses
- If cleaning your lenses over a sink be sure and plug the sink prior to starting to avoid lens loss.
- If the lenses are “stuck” in the cap rinse water over the cap until the lens floats free.
- Clean one lens first(always the same lens first to avoid mixups).
- Form a cup with your hand and place the lens in the center. Cover the lens with cleaning solution.
- Using your index finger rub the lens into the palm of your hand for about 30 seconds.
- Rinse the lens thoroughly with rinsing solution or water and replace into case.
- Repeat with other lens.
Disinfecting and Storing GP (Oxygen Permeable) Lenses
- Place your lenses in the appropriate well of your lens case.
- Fill each well with enough disinfecting solution to completely cover the lens.
- Close the case caps tightly.
- For disinfecting keep lenses in case for at least six hours.
- Be sure to to rinse thoroughly with wetting/conditioning solution prior to reinserting the lenses into your eyes.
Wetting GP Lenses for Reinsertion
- Over a closed sink rinse storage solution off lens thoroughly using rinsing solution or fresh water.
- Cover the lens in your palm with wetting/conditioning solution.
- Insert lens into eye.
Additional Cleaning
Some systems utilize enzymatic cleaners which can be used once a week to remove protein deposits. Follow the instructions on the packaging. Typically:
- After daily cleaning place lenses into case.
- Fill to top with conditioning solution.
- Place the enzymatic cleaner into each well of the case.
- Soak lenses for at least four hours.
- Rinse thoroughly with solution, re wet and place in eye.
